is a performer and choreographer in Brooklyn. Her tenure in New York is decorated with performances and collaborations, both formal and informal; with contemporaries, legends, and counterparts; on rooftops, good and bad floors, and alleyways; on stage, in film, art, on tour, and on the fly; since 2004. After graduating from the Youth Performing Arts School in Louisville, Kentucky, Leslie received a BFA in Dance from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. She has a long-standing performing and touring history with Cynthia Oliver and Jane Comfort, and has been making and performing in self-produced shows with her collaborators under the name Happydog for thirteen years, at Links Hall and Happydog Performance Space (Chicago, IL), Headwaters Theatre and Studio 2 (Portland, OR), and Kentucky Center for the Arts (Louisville, KY).
Her independent work has been presented in New York by AUNTS Realness and Populous, Movement Research at Judson Church, Danspace Draftworks, and Wild Project. Cuyjet’s work is included in Fall Movement and Center for Performance Research in November and the DoublePlus season at Gina Gibney in December. She is also currently working on projects with David Thompson, Yanira Castro, Sean Donovan and Sebastián Calderón Bentin, Kim Brandt, Mark Dendy, and Stephanie Acosta and James Tate of Intrinsic Grey. lesliecuyjet.com
