A continuous high pitched synth tone begins. It is eerie, evokes nightfall.
The sounds of an awakening forest emerge from this tone: cicadas buzzing, distant chirps, animal calls.
The sounds of the cicada become distorted, subtly unfamiliar.
The Puerto Rican Tody bird sings in the distance.
Suddenly, in this strange, live stillness…a coqui call, explosive, rings out as if a siren and returns.
In the background, there is a chorus of coquis. The sound of the wind in the trees.
The Puerto Rican Tody bird sings close.
A slightly lower synth tone emerges.
A voice sings, deep and resonant, echoing in the forest, “Doy permiso y mando.”
